Melissa’s House – February Update

Hello everyone,

We’re excited to share a February progress update on the Melissa’s House build here in Norman.

By the end of January, we successfully passed our plumbing, electrical, and framing inspections — all on the first inspection, which is a big milestone and a testament to the quality of work happening on site. While we are navigating some timing challenges with the fire suppression installation, we are actively working through those details each day. The fire alarm system has been completed, insulation work is underway, and exterior brick installation has officially begun.

We continue to be impressed with the craftsmanship and care our partners at Urban Nest are bringing to this project. Week by week, the home is really starting to take shape.

In January, we also installed our permanent sign, and since then we’ve already started hearing from families across Norman who are looking for a more personal, home-centered approach to care. That response has been incredibly encouraging and reinforces why we’re building Melissa’s House in the first place.

Our goal remains to have the home ready in June. It’s an ambitious timeline, and we’re staying focused and intentional as we move through each phase of construction.

At the same time, we’re beginning to connect with local nurse practitioners and medical professionals who share our heart for walking alongside families through the aging process. If you know a medical professional in the Norman area who may be interested in supporting our mission to improve the aging experience through the comfort of home, we would be grateful if you’d share our website or Facebook page with them. We’ll be hosting several on-site visits in the coming weeks and welcome anyone who would like to experience the Residential Assisted Living model firsthand.

Thank you for following along, for your encouragement, and for believing in a more thoughtful, family-centered approach to aging.
